During my childhood in the sewers of Moscow, I did not have many friends. It was actually just one, Ivan. He was a very special kid. He used to talk about the future like he already knew what was going to happen, even though he was never right. It was actually kind of creepy.
I especially remember one certain moment together with Ivan. It was when two guards went down the sewer to look for illegal, homeless people like us. Ivan and I managed to save us from getting caught by hiding in the disgusting sewer water and then tightened a rope over the area you walked, the guards tripped over the rope and fell in the water, and we were safe.
Since there was not very much fun things happening down in the sewer, the only thing we usually did in our free time was playing the game "catch the rat", which is basically exactly what it sounds like, you try to catch some of the many rats down in the sewer and the one who catches the most rats win. Some would call a pretty disgusting game, but there was not much else to do.
Ivan's background is pretty unknown. Nobody really knows who he is and why he always talks about the future in such a creepy way. My parents have no idea of who his parents are or why he is down in the sewers like us. But that's probably a totally different story.
