English log book - Week 16

Activity: I read some English news about a fight in Iraq that cost IS a quarter of their territory. The news were in my opinion good news since IS isn't very nice people. When I had read the news I retold it to Lukas.

After I had found three words, the lesson ended and now I can't find the news again.

Activity: I listened to a "6-Minute English" programme about computers and smartphones. They asked themselves if computers were taking over our world. They talked about "De-skilling" which meant that if people kept using computers for everything they would forget how to do human things, like feeling empathy, imagination and to feel understand what other people are feeling.

Crash - When a computer/programme stops running their original script and has to shutdown.
Skill - The ability to do something you have practiced.
Empathy - The ability to imagine what other people might be feeling and thinking.
Spellchecker - A programme on computers/phones that prevents us from making spelling mistakes while typing.

Homework: I listened to a "6-Minute-English" programme about "Artificial Intelligence" which mean robots and computers that have a high intelligence. They said that there was a risk that robots could take over the world if we started to let robots do everything in stead of us.

Synthetic - Something made Artificially.
Threat - Something dangerous.
Surpass - To have superior abilities than human.
Genius - Someone who is very clever.

Activity: I read some news from Sweden in English on the site "Göteborg Daily". The news was about a shooting in Gothenburg.

Summary:
There was a shooting in Gothenburg on early morning, at the 16/4. A man got shot in his car on Gunnared Terrace, and police was alarmed. A lot of police cars with dog handlers and ambulance was then sent to the crime scene.
The police is now handling the case as "Attempted murder".

This is the second shooting in Gothenburg in a week.
