The First Week of Reading Summary

This week, I only read to page 19, as I didn't have much to time to read this week. Luckily, you are supposed to read at your own pace, which means that I can just catch up if I read more next week.


Summary: The book starts with a brief explanation of Link, the main character, and his current situation. After that the first chapter begins. In this chapter we get to know Link as a child. He explains that he had a good childhood and that his family was as happy as ever, until his father ran away with another woman. Link's mom then got together with a man called Vince that, according to Link, is a real idiot. He explains the situation he had at home and how it mucked up his schoolwork. After school he didn't manage to get a job because of the sucky grades he got. He also explains a few events that turned out to make Link a homeless person.

By this time we've also met the second most important character, Shelter. Shelter is a former military who sees it as his mission to erase all the homeless persons from the streets of London. Shelter also explains why he ended up being kicked out from the military and how there apparently is a plot in the English government.
